Salem Middle School is located in the community of Lithonia, eighteen miles east of Atlanta. Salem is fairly new and has an excellent physical plant. The school staff includes 123 full-time certified teachers, two part-time Title I certified teachers, 9 paraprofessionals, 5 secretaries, 14 cafeteria staff members, 9 custodians, and 2 transportation managers.
There are 24 extra-curricular organizations offered for student participation, including two academic-driven programs which provide Salem students with instructional and extra-curricular endeavors that keep them actively engaged in the learning process.
Salem Middle School’s goals for the school year are as follows:

  • 2006-2007 Chorus earned Georgia Music Educator Honors and participated in the Southern Star Music Festival.
