Mr. Womack is serving as a DeKalb Board of Education member for a second time. He was first elected, and began serving in January 1981 and continued to serve until 1992, through four (4) consecutive terms. He currently represents District 4. Schools in his District are Lakeside and Tucker High Schools, Stone Mountain and Tucker Middle Schools, Briarlake, Brockett, Dresden, Evansdale, Idlewood, Jolly, Livsey, Midvale, Oak Grove, Oakcliff Theme, Pleasantdale and Smoke Rise Elementary Schools.
Mr. Womack began his professional career by earning a Bachelor of Business Education from the University of Georgia. He is a successful businessman who began his career in the transportation industry. While serving as Vice President of Trailways, Inc., he served as a liaison between the industry and United States senators, congressmen and the President of the United States. During the same time period, he established and served as President of Georgia Courier, a transportation company that had revenues of more than $1.5 million annually. Mr. Womack sold the company to Pony Express, a division of Wells Fargo Armored Car Company.
Since 1977, through the present time, Mr. Womack has worked in the medical health care equipment industry. He started at Sensor Technology Limited, and in 1985 started Medical Rehab, Inc., a company that specializes in rehabilitation of children and adults with mobility issues. He works with Children’s Healthcare and the Sheppard Hospital.
Mr. Womack has served as Vice President of First Financial Group Corporation, a Fortune 400 company, where his duties included business development and Government Affairs. He has served on numerous Boards and Foundations, including the Duke Brain Tumor Advisory Board, Georgia State University Board of Trustees, DeKalb Community College Board of Trustees, MIA-POW Educational Scholarship Fund, and the DeKalb County School System Board of Education from 1981 – 1992. |
